It's Time For A Flu Shot. Here Is What You Need To Know
September 24, 2025
Here’s a guide to getting yourself vaccinated against the flu.
When’s the best time to get the flu shot?
Flu season begins in October, which is when the CDC recommends getting your shot.
Why it matters:
- Flu vaccines reduce illness, hospitalization, and downtime from our daily responsibilities, keeping us healthy and productive throughout the season.
- Vaccines support our overall health by preventing flu-related complications.
Will the flu shot keep me from getting the flu?
No, no vaccine is 100% effective, but if you do get the flu, the vaccine is likely to reduce your chance of getting very sick.
I try to avoid stepping foot in my doctor’s office during flu season. Are there other alternatives to get a flu shot?
If you’re concerned, try to schedule your appointment for off-peak times, wear a mask to your appointment, or consider getting your flu shot at a local pharmacy or clinic.
This is also a good time to consider other recommended vaccines like RSV (recommended for adults who are at increased risk of severe RSV (e.g., chronic lung or heart disease, weakened immune systems)). Contact your healthcare provider to learn more about the RSV vaccine.
Let’s work together to keep our team healthy and strong this season.
