September is National Suicide Prevention Month

Did you know suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among people aged 10-14, and the 3rd leading cause of death among  people aged 15-24. September is National Suicide Prevention Month, which hopes to ensure individuals, friends and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help.

988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Immediate support and help is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year through this resource. It’s always free and completely confidential - just dial 988.

Crisis Text Line
Text “Hello” to 741741 to speak with a crisis counselor trained to listen and offer support. If you are struggling with gun violence, eating disorders, depression, self harm or more, a volunteer supporter can listen 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Talkspace
Talkspace is online therapy with a licensed professional therapist trained to listen and offer support. To get started, answer a few questions on talkspace.com to determine what type of therapist you may be in need of. Then, you choose a provider from a list based on your needs and support level. War Veteran Call Center
War veterans and family members only can take advantage of this resource to discuss readjusting to civilian life, military experience and more. This is prepaid through the Veteran’s military service. Call 877-927-8387.

Employee Assistance Program (or EAP)
The EAP provides outside counselors, resources and referrals to help you and your family manage life-stressors of all kinds. From financial concerns, legal issues, drug or alcohol struggles, and elderly care, you have a team of advisors at your fingertips. You have access to unlimited telephone consultations and up to three virtual or face-to-face counseling sessions per issue, per year.
